iPad Lock Button doesn't work

I have sort of an odd problem that I was hoping someone in the community could give me a hand with. My iPad 4th gen wifi has some odd issues with the lock button. Not only does it not work (even after replacing the lock button/volume ribbon) when the iPad was in use the assistive touch menu would not even lock the device. I was wondering if that could indicate the problem being more logic-based or if it was perhaps a fault in the board that connects the headphone jack, cameras, and lock/volume buttons to the logic board?

Any help would be great.

Id try another lock ribbon cable and see if you cant find a replacement board that the lock ribbon cable plugs into. I think they are separate. I cant remember off the top of my head, if they are or not. I had the exact same issue and it was the lock ribbon cable needed replacing.
