Finding the right replacement battery for my iPhone 3GS

I have the later 6.1.6 firmware version. The replacement battery for version 4.2.1 does not charge up in my phone.

Please advise part number for correct replacement battery.

Didn't think firmware would be an issue. You either have a faulty battery or charger port usually.

Thanks for your reply. Was told by repairer that firmware was the issue. I replaced the new battery with my old battery, charged it and phone is working although does not now not hold charge for long. Its the original battery.
