Generally, one can swap out the logic board from within the series your system is a member of. So in this case the group in the above link.

When jumping across different series things can get dicy as the logic board mounts as well as the heat sink & fan system may not line up. In this case you're lucky! They do.

Apple did not make any physical changes in the logic board layout only the CPU was upgraded in the 15" model for the '11 & '12 model years. Here is the choices: MacBookPro9,1

As a side note these are the last upgradable systems (RAM & SATA Storage) Apple made. It's the only REAL Pro's laptop system that can take the bangs and has the meat to be useful!

Come on Apple lets get a real pro's MacBook Pro! One that can be upgraded and has the deep storage a pro needs onboard.

hmmm, strange. Check my model on apple.com, it writes MacBook Pro (15 inch, late 2011 г.), but,if i'm right, logic board in this model are 820-2915, and my is 820-3330. So, i already have motherboard from model 2012 MBP?

Are you confusing logic boards and the CPU/GPU's installed on them?

by

The 2011 MBP A1286 8.2 has USB 2.0 and the 2012 MBP A1286 9.1 has USB 3.0, so there was quite a bit of a change on the board.

But as far as I know you can swap the logicboards from 2011 to 2012 and vice versa. At least all the connections (e.g. display) should be the same
