My rear brakes aren't giving me a solid pedal.

Block Image

I am having problems with the rear brakes on this truck the self adjusters don't seem to work and I keep getting a soft pedal because of this. I need help.

I have gone through these brakes several times with no real solution, the truck pedal stays soft because of this.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

When your truck is running, the brake pedal is vacuum assisted (Power Brakes) and will make your brake pedal feel soft. If you have a solid pedal with the truck off, then you should be ok.

If you do want to make sure that everything is good......

Check both front brake calipers and master cylinder for any fluid loss. If your brake system is not losing fluid, bleed the air from the whole system.

Bleed Components in this order ( Make sure Master Cylinder Does Not Run Out Of Fluid):

1- Driver side front caliper

2- Passenger side front caliper

3- Driver side rear wheel cylinder

4- Passenger side rear wheel cylinder

If you just replaced the brake shoes on the rear, your going to have to adjust them yourself initially. The auto adjusters will function normally after initial adjustment.
