My xbox 360 doesn't read discs.

When I put a game disc in my xbox it doesn't read it. I don't get any error code, it just says "open tray". I believe that the optical scan is broken because I tried with many different discs and it shows the same "open tray". Me and a friend tried to clean it but it didn't work and if it's dust it should work but it doesn't. I just want to know whats wrong with it.

In most cases the laser can be changed an will solve problem. A lot of videos out there that show how it is done. Not overly difficult. Just take your time. You can order the new laser on eBay for around 10 bucks. Just make sure of the drive make. Most of them for the slim 360 were the lite on drives, however they did do a few hitachi drives. Also note that the lasers are shipped with an anti static solder bead that has to be removed before installation

Hope this helps
