Why is my mic not working?

I recently just replaced my mirco usb charging port ribbon , after months of my tablet not working. It was quite easy followed directions. The charger is working great now. So noww my microphone will not work i tried using it on fb chat, skype , oovoo and even tried recording a video and didnt pick up any noise. I tried using headphones with a mic and still nuthing please help !
