How to do I correctly reattach the back cover?

I have been cracking open my school's Galaxy Tab 4 10.1" tablets to do some repairs to a cable that comes loose. When I reattach the back cover, the sides never seal back up fully. I always just set the tablet in the back and pinch it closed, by going around and pressing with my fingers. The top and bottom close right up, but there is a tiny gap left on the sides. This cause the Survivor cases we have for them to not want to fit correctly. Is there a better/different way to get the sides to close up?

It sounds like you're doing everything correctly, just not using enough force to get the sides to reclip. Unless, however, the clips are breaking when you take them off, or the plastic is warping during the removal. I've had the latter happen to myself once, and the back never sat quite right again. When removing the covers, be gentle and try to unclip the edges with a spudger or soft pry tool rather than freeing one or two corners and pulling. It takes a bit longer, but the backs typically seat fine for me unless there is physical damage to the frame or clips.
