Can I upgrade the WLAN controller to a 802.11ac radio antenna?

You can replace the AirPort board to this one: MacBook Pro 13" and 15" Retina (Late 2013/Mid 2014) Airport/Bluetooth Board. Follow this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2012 AirPort Board Replacement.

While you will get better performance it won't be a great as the newer systems with their MIMO antennas.

Don't forget your performance is also limited by the AP device (Router) as well as your connection to the internet as well as the remote systems connection. If you are just trying to gain access to a local system on your LAN then the system their may be limited.
