Power cable hooked positive to negative, now does not power up

I made an adapter power cable, but I wired it backwards positive to negative. Now with a correct wired power cable the green light lights, but the unit will not power up when pushing the on/off switch. What component is most likely damaged and can I replace the damaged part?

Try just holding the power button for 15 seconds. This is supposed to reset it. I can't find a schematic, so I can't pinpoint the most likely cause, but look for something burnt if holding the power button doesn't work.

After my GPS sat for one day, pushing the power button at first did nothing. I hooked it up to the corrected power source and again pushed the power button and held it for 15 seconds. After just a few seconds the GPS came on normally. Thanks so much for your help. Frank

Glad to help! Thanks for telling us how it went. So many times I wonder if people got their devices working.

Keep the polarity in electrical connections positive to positive and negative to negative when utilizing dc power. Connect hot to hot and negative to negative while working with Ac voltage
