When I boot up, all I see is a file with question mark?
My screen turns on, but only a file with question mark appears.
What can I do to fix it, or at least extract my pictures?

Usually that means that your computer can't find a valid install of Mac OS. If your hard drive still works, you can reinstall Mac OS (probably with archive and install).
