No power - new charger & battery

I have a macbook air that had a bad power adapter. Replaced power adapter. mac will not power on. unplugged battery and re-seated. plugged in mac. booted up. restarted good. unplugged mac. restarted good. shut down and will not turn back on until you re-seated battery again. I've also replaced battery. Any help???
