babyeight2000 it will help tremendously if you can tell us what model your TV is.

If the audio headset works on the tv, is there a way to fix the speakers? My son plugged headphones into the tv, and after he took them out, the speakers on the tv stopped working.

Hi, You haven't selected the 'mute' option on your remote control have you?

Have you checked the audio settings in your TV and ensured that you haven't turned the TV speakers OFF? Here is a link to the user manual for a 28" Insignia TV (hopefully it is for your model - you do not state what the model number of your TV is). It shows how to adjust (and check) the audio settings.

http://www.manualslib.com/manual/565240/...

If the settings indicate that there should be audio coming from the TV and there isn't, connect a pair of headphones to the TV's headphone socket (audio out socket on back of TV) and listen for audio there. If there is it proves that the TV's audio is working and that there is a problem with the speakers. If there isn't then you have a problem with the TV's audio circuitry and connecting external speakers will not solve the problem.

Same thing happened to me last night, and I instantly unplugged the Roku Stick, gave it a few minutes, and that fixed it after rebooting

Been having the same problem. Unplugged speakers, reset tv, all the steps. Finally saw this post, unplugged and replugged the Roku and voila, that fixed it. Thanks.

I had a similar problem.

After a very brief power outage, the set had no sound. Image came through fine. All other sets in the house (other brands) worked fine.

SOLUTION: Swap out the cable box for one from another working set. All sets working fine now.

I don't have cable but my sound isn't working and went through all the step that you all mentioned above. Still nothing. Only have picture. How can I fix it so I can have sound again or is there some one in the. Nashville area who could fix it or show me how too.

I agree with resetting everything before declaring the TV to be at fault. For some reason, once in a while, my Insignia TV loses all audio. I tried the headset trick, etc - nothing. No sound coming from anywhere. I reset my Roku (go to Roku menu then Settings, then System Restart) and I have sound again. I’ve had the Insignia TV since February (it’s now April) and I’ve had to do this 3 times to get my sound to come back on. I’ve *never* had this problem with any other TV when using a Roku. Will go back to buying a better quality TV instead of looking for the low price next time.

I've had my Roku for 3+ years with my Insignia tv and just recently started having this problem. Tiki may need to be updated.

Hi @kjkkwa ,

What is the signal source for the TV, an antenna or a "box" of some description e.g. cable box, pvr, media streaming device etc?

If a "box":

Have you checked the audio output level setting on it?

Can you try a connecting a different output signal type from the “box” e.g. HDMI, Component video + audio (red/blue/green video + red/white audio cable), Composite video + audio (yellow video + red/white audio cable) to check if the TV audio level is better? If it is OK when using the Component or Composite connection but not HDMI there may be a problem with HDMI controller or the digital signal processor in the TV as the others types use an analogue signal connection

Can you try a different signal source e.g. dvd player and check if the audio level is OK?

If it is still low TV audio output regardless of input type or device read on.

If an antenna and any other TVs in the premises have no audio problems:

Then as it is new return it for a replacement or refund as per the instructions in the manufacturer’s warranty statement.

Just called Insignia, we had the same issue with two 58” FireTVs we purchased Black Friday. They said it was a known issue and had me update software, de register from my Amazon account and sign back in. This resolves the intermittent loss of audio.
