My phone will not open at all with both the isclack or a suction cup.

Make sure you take the two bottom pentalobe screws before doing it.

You also need to be careful of the home button ribbon cable that is plugged into the charging port dock assembly.

So when you do lift up the screen, make sure you only lift it slightly so you don't rip the cable.

Also you don't have to use suction cup or iSlack. There are other ways such as using a razor blade. You need to lift up the bottom part first with the razor blade to pop it out a bit then pop it up a bit on the sides of the screen. The razor blade only has to go in enough to make it possible to pry up the screen a bit.

Note that you put the blade between the metal frame and the front display frameborder. NOT between the glass and the front display plastic frame.

This is just how I open many iPhone 5, 5s and 6 screens. Your mileage may vary.
