Xbox turns off by itself

As soon as I turn on my Xbox it will stay on for maybe a minute before it turns itself off again. There is no red light on it, it's almost as if a ghost just pressed the power button. When I turn it on again, my display settings keep turning back to the default settings. This will happen every time I turn it back on and I have to fix my settings.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I see 3 possible problems,

1 bad power brick, after it shuts off is the light on the power brick orange or red? If red there was a power brick fault and you need a new one

2 a fault in the motherboard, your just screwed... Get a new one

3 if it makes a "charm" when it shuts off the static switch on the front has a problem and needs to be replaced (there is a guide for this)

One other thing you could try if it's not 1 or 3 is to try flashing the OS from a flash drive

Also how does it shut off? Like just pow off, or like brief flicker pow off, or like normal shut off like if you pressed the power button (screen dim the off)?

I replaced the power brick (still had the one from my old xbox) and the problem was still there. It does make a chime noise when it turns itself off but, if its the static switch then I'm not sure why it keeps resetting all of my settings to the default settings every time it turns itself off. Thank you for the help, I'll try replacing the static switch but if all else fails, might be time for an upgrade!

OK I would also try re flashing the OS from a USB that may be why it keeps resetting all your settings...
