Aproximately 1/10 of my screen is black (dead)

I have opened my MBP today and 1/10 of display was black (left corner).

However laptop was not damaged and remained stationary for last 12-18 hours.

I have tested on an external display and everything works just perfectly fine.

Has anyone encountered anything like that before?

Thanks

Sadly, your display has gone.

Most of the time something heavy was placed on the lid or it was banged. It might have been a while ago and by chance the connections where still workable but over time the weakened connections finely failed.

Luckily, this is not too difficult a repair. Follow this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 Display Assembly Replacement This is the part you'll need: MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Early 2015) Display Assembly - Apple P/N 661-02360. If money is tight, you might fined a used one. Just make sure you can return it if its bad as well as get your money back.
