The S pen will work separately from the digitizer because the S pen function is being sensed by a film like sensor behind the screen/LCD. If you are getting no touch or half touch capabilities from the screen you have a bad digitizer on the screen assembly. You will have to get it replaced or replace it yourself using one of the guides featured on this website.

Frank is correct on this. it looks as if you have a digitizer problem. With a little know how you can order a replacement and fix it. there are guides on this site on to how to do this. If you go to the manufacturer though they may charge you a few hundred dollars. if you do it yourself or have someone you know that is capable do this then you can order the part for around $100 and then fix it. I know that for an Iphone apple is charging somewhere around $300-400 to replace the digitizer. I hope that is helpful and you are able to get your phone in working order soon.
