When my earphones are plugged into the iTouch, they do not work. How can I fix it?

first make sure they arent muted or the music level isnt all the way down. if u think they need to be repaired then look for these guides. i dont know which generation u have. iPod Touch

The skins may prevent the jack from seating properly, try them without the skin.
