Yosemite seems to get hung up on installation after replacing hhd.

Yosemite clean installation doesn't complete after hhd installation. Early 2008 20" iMac.

Did you use the original system installation DVD and Disk Utilities to first format the drive GUID and Mac OS X extended?

It wouldn't read the original disk. I was able to use disk utility from an external hd that has my time machine back up.
