How to fix ripped headphone cords

How do you fix the apple headphones when the cord is ripped?

If you feel comfortable, get some fine heat shrink, a soldering iron and some solder and solder the proper wires to each other. Put the heat shrink on before you solder (slide it down so that the heat from the soldering iron doesn't cause it to shrink prematurely), then slide it over the repaired area and use a hair dryer, heat gun or lighter to shrink the tubing. Keep in mind that the wires inside are VERY small.

u just put the cord part that's broken in the hole to the device

It most likely won’t short the phone, but you’re essential just sticking wires blindly into a hole.

Hunter - you mean the cord (the wire) is broken ? Segi's answer is correct.

OR....

the ear-plug has been torn from the wire ? That's not repairable. Do Not plug it in.
