Can you get the pictures off a dead iPhone?

Yesterday my iPhone 3G just turned off. Without warning the screen went black. iTunes won't see it and the charger won't do anything. Can I ever get the pictures off it???

Do you use Aperture or iPhoto to store/edit your pics? If so then your pics should be stored there. If you never stored or synced those pics to any app, then you are outta luck if the phone is "dead". It might be the battery. Try replacing the battery first before you declare the phone "dead".
