How to fix the lower antenna flex / wire on iPhone 4?

After opening the Iphone 4 I damaged the lower antenna flex. Two of EMI fingers have been broken off. This caused a dropdown of the reception for 3G.

To fix it I ordered a new flex. This flex did not include the wire to connect to the logic board, so I soldered the orginal wire on the replacement flex.

After reassembly I do not have any reception at all (no service). Did I do anything wrong with the soldering of the wire ? Or is there anything else wrong ? The wifi connection is still working fine.

Here you can find a example picture with the wire soldered on the flex: Link text

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi, to fix it I have used the flex with the wire already soldered on it. I found it on Ebay. Be careful not to wreck it again when assembling, it's very sensitive.

I doubt they can be super glued, they may be able to be soldered, but it's best to purchase a replacement as they can be had off eBay for under $5.

Soldering parts in an iPhone is a very hard thing to do. If i were you i would just order another part with the cable attached. Install it and see how you go from there. If that does no work then you might have to take it to apple for a replacement.

If your iPhone is still under warranty they will replace the entire phone for free (don't let them know you have tampered with it). If it is not you will have to pay a fee of about $260 for a replacement.

Hope this helps :D
