You may want to clean the grass out of the cooling fines of the motor. You can do this by removing the top shield thats covers the motor then take compressed air and blow the grass ant dirt out

@chogg What make and model is your mower? what engine make engine does it have? Could be caused by vapor lock. what have you tried and what have you checked?
