intermittent -sound control wont stop reducing sound

hi i have a logic 32 in tv that i recently bought second hand as good condition. So its not because after watching for a while the sound control will come up on screen and just go to 0. If you press + it will increase but as soon as you stop pressing button it goes down. Went to the menu and can get sound when this is on screen on the sound setting but exit menu and the problem persists. I thought the button was sticking at first but it cant be because it only does it now and again.

Hi,

Are you using the remote control to control the TV?

If so, it could still be a problem in the remote, it doesn't have to be a sticking button, it could be a problem with the Volume Down button contacts. Try removing the batteries from the remote control to disable it to prove whether or not it is the remote that's causing the problem. Do this before the problem occurs and see if it still happens.

Not sure of your model but if there also a Volume Down/Up button on the TV itself, the switch contacts may be going intermittently short circuit and that could also be the cause of the problem?
