Installing a front panel/screen without camera, speaker or home button

Hey all - I have an iPhone 5C that doesn't have a front display assembly. I'm looking at screens and I can save some decent cash if I get an LCD/digitizer without the home button, front speaker or camera. Can I install one of these without those parts and still have the phone work, kind of like an iPod touch? The home button contacts are broken on the phone anyway so I'd be using assistive touch home button regardless. I don't mind about the front camera or speaker, just the screen and of course the ability to touch it.
