Battery won't charge after replacement

I have an iPhone 5c I am repairing for a family member. I have replaced the battery and the phone powers on totally fine, but when I plug the charger in it will not charge and after a few seconds I get the message 'this cable or accessory is not certified and many not work reliably with this iphone"

I have two iPhone chargers, both are genuine Apple products and charge every other phone and ipad without any problems at all.

Also I bought 2 new batteries and have tried both and both have the same issue, so I have ruled out that it could have been a faulty battery.

I was very careful when changing the battery and I have a fair bit of experience repairing various phones.

If someone could offer any suggestions then it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Update (04/27/2016)

Hi again.

I have just now changed the charger port, put in a brand new battery but still the iPhone will not charge. I really have no idea what could be wrong.

Is it possible it could be a software fault and an iTunes restore in recovery mode could fix it? Is there anything else I could try?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

make sure there is no debris in the charging port, then make sure that the port has not been damaged too bad on the outside and the inside, determine if there is an issue internally, more than likely will need a new port, seen this a few times with repairs, happened to me once, replaced the port and no more trouble, not sure if the port was actually bad but that was the only way i could fix it, let us know how it goes

Liam,

1. Try another charge port. Seriously...I have got bad ones before. You don't have to change it totally out to test it...just plug it in. I call it "piggy back". These are "fiddly" to get in. I have seen techs not plug these in all the way/correctly.

2. It may be the dreaded U2 IC problem.
