Not Charging / Cannot be Turned on / Need Data Recovery

After charging with non-original charger (in taxi) the iPhone went dead. When charged at home the charger jack heated up to a point plastics melting.

Now it won't charge, won't turn on.

It hasn't been backed-up for more than a year. I would really be happy if the data from the phone could be recovered.

Could you please recommend data recovery/repair service, preferably in EU? Many thanks!

Not experienced in repairs, would like to have some one do it?

@marko_v check just install a new charged battery and try to back-up to iCloud or even to iTunes if you're lucky enough.

If the damage is severe and you indeed need the help of a pro iPhone repair service and data recovery, check my profile here on iFixit for a link to a website with a list of people who can offer this service.

Hopefully the charging port only has to be replaced.

You can buy the part via the ifixit part under Parts > Apple > iPhone 5s. It's probably cheaper to get the charger port repaired than to do data recovery on the phone.

There is also a guide on how to replace it on here. I'd provide links but I'm on phone and currently busy.

And please do not use cheap car chargers. They can damage the battery, the charging or power management IC and especially charger port on the phone. I'd personally avoid all car chargers as they are problematic over time.

Thanks for the reply, but would like some one else takes care of this?

Then you would need to take it to a phone repair shop to get it repaired then. Otherwise if you have a friend that does iPhone repairs you can get them to do it as well.
