Why is my battery percentage inconsistent?

I bought a MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2009 to Mid 2012) Battery on your website, and I've just notice on how the battery doesnt last long. It loses a percentage around every 4 minutes and it can only last up to 3 hours tops. Just now i was charging it and it says 100% but when i took of the power source the batter percentage became 65% immediately. please help.

When you put in the new battery did you reset the SMC or anything else?

by

I'm not sure. I had someone else put in the battery for me. Can i reset the SMC by myself right now? I also change my hard drive from an HDD to an SSD, i don't know if thats relevant or not.

Try to discharge the Battery till the MacBook turns off. After that charge it all the way up to 100 %. Don't remove the charger during this process! This way you calibrate the battery sensor in your Laptop. Try it 3-4 times, if it doesn't work, you need a new battery.
