Did I kill this laptop?

I have had this laptop for 2-3 years and its been alright until I dropped it a few months back. That unaligned the lid and while annoying it wasn't a big deal - until I realized the way the lid shifted when opened/closed had it rubbing against some wiring that had worn away.

By the time I figured it out a few wires were completely snapped but it still worked. I kept using it and it was fine until yesterday. The screen flickered in and out depending on the angle I held it then as of this morning it isn't doing anything. No new wires have been snapped though. Total black screen and weirdly hooking it up to a tv through an HDMI cable didn't project anything at all. Is it time for the junk heap?

Looks like you chewed through the video cable to the monitor. All hope may not be lost, windows does not always auto-detect and display to an external monitor, you can try the keyboard shortcut: window key + P

that will tell the computer you want to use an external display.
