Shuts down automatically as soon as I power off. SMC not resetting.

Hello All,

I have been going nuts the last 24 hrs trying to figure this out. Here's the deal:

- Computer shuts down as soon as I pull the power

- Has a new battery

- Has new Ram

- Running 85W MagSafe Adapter

- Battery indicator lights are all blinking when adapter is connected

- Have tried doing a SMC reset (preffered way and manual using a terminal prompt)

- Have tried resetting the PRAM, I know this is not connected to battery issues but tried anyways

I'm at a loss. Need help diagnosing the issue.

How about giving this a try, install this App and post a screen shot on what it shows you in your question: coconutBattery.

I just added it

The screen shot is not showing any charging going on. Did you have the Power adapter plugged in? If you did then you do have a bad charging circuit. Is the MagSafe adapter cable damaged in any way? Often I see bad cords shorting out the SMC logic.

by

I tried another magsafe adapter I had on hand and it was producing the same results. What does it take to change out the charging circuit?

by

The systems logic board will need repair or replacing

by

Do you know a general cost for something like that?
