PS4 Controller Issues since 3.5 update

After the 3.5 update my controller would work correctly.

I have managed to work out that i think it has to do with the bluetooth?

The controllers work perfectly when connected to ps4 via usb cable and when within 1m of the unit (cable might not do a thing, might just be that its close)

any further than 1m and it goes haywire and usually just turns itself off like its out of range.

Is this a coincidence or the 3.5 update. done it with 2 brand new controllers as well so its def the console side.

I removed the wifi antenna and re attached, not sure how this is related to the bluetooth at all.

i also moved the ps4 to hip height on the cabinet, turned it around so the back faces my direction and played for an hr or so with no issues.

Are they wireless controllers? Did you check the batteries?

by

they are built in batteries, they are fully charged as they work within 1m

Hi! Usually this type of problem is caused by a bad WiFi antenna. I haven't heard of this happening because of the update but that's always possible.

Here is the WiFi antenna repair guide if it helps.

Good luck!

I took it apart and removed the wifi antenna, it looks fine, all solder joins are in tact and no damage anywhere else. it was connected properly to the main board. It's down to the update or a faulty motherboard. Just a coincidence that it happened straight after the update was installed.

Wow, that's surprising...well it's possible that the update caused this but I just haven't seen this problem from the update.

I can't think of anything else that could cause it besides the ps4 going faulty at that exact time the update was installed.

its working at the moment now. i put the ps4 on top of the cabinet instead on in it and turn it around so the back is facing my direction and now its working. im guessing a faulty bluetooth adapter or software issue.

It could be either of those.

Still no luck fixing this. Bluetooth range issue for sure. Is there extenders?

I have the same issue, but only when I have the external 8TB HD extended storage connected to the PS4 and playing a game on the System HD. It all stopped after I disconnected the external. So I doubt there's Bluetooth or WIFI connectivity issue. Some bug in the update may be causing it.
