Thank you for your response.

There is no little red light in the hole.

The jack is fine.

I'm trying to use external speakers.

I bought my imac off the floor at MicroCenter. It has not worked since.

Look in the hole and see if you see a red light. Also please examine the tip of the old plug in jack to see if the tip may have broken off. Is this something new? Did it work before? What are you trying to plug in and will it plug in all the way?
