mouse pointer will not change onto the small setting

My mouse pointer was originally on the small setting but after I tried out the medium size when I click back onto the small setting the actual pointer does not change back to its usual small size.

It only changes to the small size if I change the colour of it to black but I want the original pointer which is small and white.

I have restarted, logged out and turned off my laptop but it will not change.

If you have any ideas of why this is, I would really appreciate your help.
