Is it possible to test a mic with a multimeter?

I need to test several mics for the iPhone 1st Generation. Sometimes they come damaged, and the only way to test them is soldering them to the System Connector. Is there any way to test a mic with a multimeter?

If you want, you can cut the end off of a 3.5mm audio cable, and attatch the 2 wires to the mic, and plug that into the microphone/audio-in jack of a computer and see if you can hear anything.
