keypad doubles up some characters have to push and hold on others.

history:

usb connecter seemed to be bad. I had to press down on the cable to get device to charge.

I ordered and installed a new daughter board. The device charged better, though the new board connection still seems loose. With the new board, the device would not recognize the swipe up stroke to unlock it.

I put the original board back, and with the new charge in the battery, it worked fine. Except the connector issue was still there.

I had developed some skill with the zif sockets, so today I put the new board back in.

I can now swipe up and unlock it, but key presses on the popup keyboard act funny, some keys give me two letters, some have to be pressed and held, some stutter.

Could this be my novice cabling? or something wrong with the board, or what?

Any suggestions are appreciated.
