Why is there a burning smell?

My Hamilton Beach Food Processor is giving off a burning smell when I turn it on, though everything is running fine.

After the manufacturing process, the motor will often be left with residue. This is a temporary odor and should go away after repeated use. If the smell is reoccurring, stop using the device, as the wiring is more than likely faulty in the device. Also, as a side not, make you are only processing food, as "processing" anything else could lead to some odorous results as well.
