How can I tell a used screen will fit my MacBook Pro?

Hiya

First time on this site!

I have a 17" macbook pro. It needs a new screen.

There's one on ebay, but the seller doesn't know model or year.

Mine is model A1229, Serial W87300Z1XA9.

How can I tell if the used one will fit OK?

Too much to expect maybe, but worth asking.

Cheers and thanks

Michael

Chosen Solution

Dismantle the machine

to the point where you can read the model no on the back of the display e.g. LP-174WP@(TL)(A3) for example.

You'll have to get this done before you can put the replacement in anyway. Once you have the model of the screen you can use Google to find compatible models of the screen from any vendor.
