MBP in reboot loop - only starting up when holding command permanently

After recent problems with the hard disc cable (was replaced in genius bar and worked fine afterwards again), I'm currently facing another problem:

When turning on the MacBook I'm ending up in a reboot loop. The Apple logo is visible and the loading bar comes roughly to half of its length before it is forced into the next reboot cycle. However it does boot completely when I hold down only the command button permanently. I can log in with password (release command button for a few seconds type in password). But whenever releasing the command button longer than about 5 sec it's forced into the reboot loop again.

All of this happened actually after I cleaned the MBP with a damp cloth while turned off. But I could really not imagine that any liquid damage was caused by this.

I have the latest OS X El Capitan update 10.11.4 installed.

As you might notice I'm not a real expert and hope my description is understandable. Thanks for any help!!!

Boot from the recovery partition if you can by holding down the Option key at start up and selecting it. Then run Disk Utilities on your hard drive.

Thanks for the advice!

The icon for the recovery HD is not shown after booting with option key hold down. There's only the Macintosh HD. But the MacBook doesn't shut down and ends up in the reboot loop. Only when going on by clicking on the Macintosh HD and booting from there again.

I went to disk utilities via command+r and run the first aid. Not really a success.

This means there's something wrong with the hard disk then? Can it be solved by changing it (planned to switch to ssd anyway to use the MacBook a few more years)?

Disconnect the hddrive cable from the logic board and reboot. See if it will then go into internet recovery mode.
