I could be a carrier issue, look for your carrier coverage first, if youre area has coverage, in my case, i have no signal inside my room and i have full bars over the kitchen, and my carrier says i dont have coverage on my street...

A design flaw in the first gen iPhone was a metal back. The metal rear panel blocks and greatly reduces the strength of signal.
