Why is my new battery dying really fast?

I just bought a brand new battery for my late 2008 15" MacBook Pro and it dies really fast. Around one percent per minute even without doing anything. Any ideas on why or any solutions? Thanks!

Update (03/31/2016)

Here is my battery before the reset and calibration and here is after the reset. Calibration takes a little time so I will post the screenshot tomorrow once I finish that. Thanks for your help!

How does your MagSafe power adapters cable look like? Does it have any bumps, kinks or worn spots in the sheathing? You could have damaged your systems charging logic within your system. Stop using it and get a new unit.

Otherwise, when you change out the battery you need to do a few things here before using the system. First you need to do a SMC reset so the system forgets about the old battery. Then next thing here is to properly calibrate your battery. Follow these links:

I would also recommend installing this app so you get a better view on what your systems battery: coconutBattery. Post a screen shot before and after you do the SMC reset and calibrating in your question so we too can see whats happening.

Did that fix things?

I posted my screen shots above, not really sure what I'm looking for on the differences. Seems to be dying just as fast.. Not sure what the issue is! I bought the battery from ifixit, I never mentioned that, so I know it's a good battery so it must be my Mac.

Please explain ... With the battery fully charged how long does it take before the system shuts down due to low battery. At that point what does CoconutBattery show you.
