Home Button Still not working after replacing button and flex cable?

So i am having difficulty getting the home button to work, i bought a new button and flex cable online, replaced as shown but the home button is still unresponsive?

The button feels better and clicks down like it should?

Any other suggestions?

Have you tried shorting the home button connector pins to see if the phone responds to that as a home button click?

No I have not? Is this easy enough to do?

take a flat head screwdriver or some other metal instrument. what you want to do is check if the home button function works ok without the use of the home button.

the part you want to short out is on the dock connector, its the 2 gold springy prongs that would come into contact with the rear of the home flex. go into an app and then touch the 2 prongs together with said instrument. if it returns to home screen then all is good and you probably just have a faulty home flex. (as long as you also have the home flex positioned correctly and stuck down)

Thanks, i managed to short the 2 prongs and when i did it returned to the home screen so i assume its just a faulty flex cable. Thanks

Yep, faulty flex cable most likely for home button.
