5s Cracked Screen: Can I buy the glass only (without Digitizer)?

Hello,

My girlfriend has dropped her iPhone 5s and shattered the glass outer panel. After looking on this site for a while, it seems my options are relegated to buying the "iPhone 5s LCD Screen and Digitizer" or "iPhone 5s LCD Screen and Digitizer Full Assembly," either one of which will cost around $100 for a new one, including tools.

My question is this:

Can I buy the front glass panel by itself, and if so, should I?

I really don't want to break the bank on this repair, as money is quite tight at the moment, and I honestly don't like wastefully buying parts that I don't need. It seems to me that the only part I need is the one that is broken; the glass outer panel. I have seen other sites offering the glass only (aftermarket part, plus tools) for a fraction of the price.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

All the answers have said how hard a job it is to just replace the glass (it is )but none have asked if you need to fix more. Does the screen still work are you able to see the LCD in all areas of the screen and does the touch function still work . If the answer to any of these questions is no then you have to replace more than just the glass. if the touch screen is unresponsive then the digitizer is broke and if the LCD screen is not showing a complete picture or screen then the LCD needs to be replaced . The smart bet is to replace it all and remember to keep the original home button if you have the fingerprint scanner . Hope this helps

the outside glass is glued to the lcd underneath. it is possible to replace just the glass but it takes a lot of work and practice. special tools and equipment are also needed. better off just getting the new screen and sell the old one on ebay.

What you want to do is a "glass only repair" that repair is very difficult without the right tool and expensive equipment. Because the glass and LCD are glued together so what you need is a screen that already had that part. Also with the iPhone 5s be careful when you open the phone because the home button ribbon is attached to the motherboard, if you open phone up too much you will damage it. Make sure you go slow and apply heat to loosen up parts that have adhesive.
