What do I need to boot up Mac with new hard drive?

I just purchased a new Crucial BX200 960GB SATA 2.5" 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal SSD for my Late-2011 15" MacBook Pro. I currently have an external hard drive with Time Machine on it and multiple backups already. What else do I need for when I am ready to boot up the MacBook after replacing the hard drive?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

If you have the latest version of firmware (EFI) on your system you'll have internet recovery services. Which will allow you to setup & install the current version of OS-X off of Apples server directly. But! The amount of time it takes can be quite a bit (depending on your internet connection). Frankly, I prefer setting up a USB thumb drive as a bootable drive and then copying over to it the OS installer which you can down load from the Apps Store. While it does take some effort to set it up in the long haul if offers a very useful tool in diagnosing issues later on.

Here's the Apple T/N on checking your systems firmware: About EFI and SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Mac computers. As long as you're at this level or newer you'll be able to do the Internet recovery. Here's the info on how to access it: OS X: About OS X Recovery. And lastly, here's how to create a bootable USB drive: Create a bootable installer for OS X
