iPhone 5C Not charging following new battery & lighting connector

Hi Guys

I replaced my iPhone 5C battery a week ago and in the process knocked one of the home button pins off the lightning connector. It was charging fine for the past week and yesterday a new lightning connector arrived so it replaced the broken one. Everything seemed to be fine at first, it seemed to charge when I plugged it in and the home button was working again. Then this morning my alarm didn't go off because my phone hadn't charged over night... it is displaying a battery with three red lines in it, but it seems to recognise being plugged in because unplugging it makes a lightning cable symbol appear.

Any ideas about what's gone wrong? This just all seems to be going from bad to worse!

Thanks

Dom

Maybe you have got a bad part. try connecting the old dock connector and look what happens. sometimes with bad parts you phone recognizes the cable but doesn't really charge... have a nice repair

Hey Dom,

i have heard of similar problems and often it has no connection to the cable or battery at all. For most of my friends and family it was simple dust in the lightnig jag. The cable was recognized but not far enough in to charge.

Try cleaning it with one of the sharp iFixit tools, a needle or a toothpick (wood or plastic is prefered). You can also use a wool ear cleaner(dont know the english name sorry) and some alcohol to clean any dust or grease from the connectors.

I realy hope this will fix you issue!

Best wishes Alex
