My screen is totally black

Hey guys! I had a problem in my laptop that required to open up the device and the problem was that it was totally the first "surgery" I conduct ..so the thing is that I somehow managed to plug the screen motherboard connector in the wrong way around..and now the screen is all black ...so can anyone tell me ..what could have happened and if this could be fixed?!

Hi,

Try connecting an external monitor to see if you still get a display.

If you do then good, the motherboard is probably OK as far as the video goes but maybe not the backlighting power supply and most likely only the screen will have to be replaced. If you don't get a display, then at the moment you know that the motherboard has a problem and that the fate of the LCD screen is an unknown.

By reversing the cable incorrect power levels would have been connected to components that weren't designed to cope with them and most probably would have destroyed them, resulting in no display.

1) unplug the laptop

2) remove the battery

3) hold down the power button for about 30 seconds to 2 minutes

4) then put the battery back in

5) start it up..
