Power issues, wont turn on or make a sound.

I have a problem with my powerbook G4 17".

My power supply fried a couple weeks ago and I just turned the computer off.

I had a friend stop by and bring his supply and it worked fine. The next day I went on a trip and accidentally left it in sleep mode for about 24 hours. When I got to my destination I had a power supply waiting for me and plugged it in. The screen turned on then just slowly dimmed to black and went into sleep mode (at least the light on front dimmed on and off). I took the battery out to just let it die cause I couldn't turn it off (don't think that was a good idea).

Now I got a new power supply and the orange light turns on but it has been charging for a few days and still no luck getting it to boot. It just sits there dead (no fan, no sound).

Any idea's of what may be exactly wrong with it or should I take it to the shop?

When you remove the battery, is the light on the AC adapter plug still amber, or green? If green, that's a good sign, but if it's amber, you probably have a bad DC-in.

Do you have a 65-watt AC adapter (power supply)? The 17" aluminum PowerBook definitely needs a 65-watt adapter.

Re-seating the RAM, and resetting the PMU/PRAM can never hurt.

I removed the battery and it is still amber, I do have a 65-watt AC adapter.

By DC-in I imagine that you mean it's internally?

Remove the battery and see if it will start from just the AC adapter.
