Can I replace a 2.4Ghz with 2.0Ghz to reduce cost?

Black MacBook 2.4GHZ 320GB HD that I purchased and the logic board had a spill on it. I already opened up the laptop and took out the logic board to replace, but I find myself in a bind because most 2.4Ghz processors are a little bit out out what I can afford. Can I replace the logic board with a lesser Ghz processer to cut down my cost?

Actually, you can't. Core Duo and Core 2 Duo lower A1181 casings have slightly different screw locations, so you wouldn't be able to attach the board correctly. I'd have to look, but I believe there are other small differences as well. Also, the inverter cable is different between the Core Duo and Core 2 Duo boards, so you'd need a different cable than what you have now. Stick to a Core 2 Duo board in order to avoid issues.

Actually the poster doesn't seem to be asking about Core Duo vs C2D, just different speed boards, if you check the part page though, it's incompatible with 2.4 versions.
