You do not say what ZTE model you have. Some phones have a micro HDMI port which can be hooked directly to a TV with HDMI ports. If your phone only has a USB port then you need to buy an MHL adaptor which converts the USB signal into HDMI. There is no way to send an HDMI signal through a regular USB cable without using a micro controller to change the USB standard to HDMI. USB cables only contain four wires while HDMI uses nineteen. So the MHL adaptor works by sending the USB signal/wires to a micro controller which converts those four USB signals/wires into the 19 HDMI signal/wires. So you can google MHL adaptor and your phone model to find a compatible MHL adaptor. Hope this helps. I tried not to speak to technical so hopefully this made sense.
