I replaced the digitizer screen on my mini ipad. Now i have colored lines on the lcd when it was working fine. I placed tape over exposed metal on digitizer. Any suggestions?

Surprised nobody has answered this in 5 months. That's a faulty LCD due to breaking the LCD upon lifting it up. Take it to a repair shop to get it replaced.

I am the repair shop and I take extreme care whenever inside one of these units, because of their delicateness.

I can not see how lifting it up to remove it prior to disconnect of the display could cause the damage you are referring to.

Can the cabling cause these vertical lines? They were not present at the end of the repair and only appeared hours later after doing another series of checks.

Can the disconnect and reconnect of the battery, ( Wrong order in tear down ) cause this?

Thanks for the quick response. Another LCD is on its way but I would appreciate more discussion on this prior to reinstall.

Just to verify, you do unplug the battery connector before unplugging the LCD cable correct?

And you also plug in the LCD and/or digitizer first before plugging the battery connector back in?

Usually having the battery connector in always at worst makes the backlight on the LCD go weird as in you'd see like dark spots on the edges of the LCD or something like that. If I remember correctly it's due to blown / damaged backlight fuse or IC.

We always follow the same order and disconnect battery before disconnecting LCD.

We're thinking that the damage may have occurred while trying to clean off finger prints or perhaps the connector itself is damaged. I can't really tell if there are bent pins
