will the ps3 overheat by replacing from 40g to 250g hard drive
PS3 shut down on its own while i was watching netflix and now its the blinking red light.

Changing the hard drive capacity for your PS3 will not cause it to overheat. That is a common issue for PS3's and is sometimes fixable by multiple methods, which someone will probably post here.
