Help: iPhone screen cable seems ripped? (First time opening iPhone)

I removed my iPhone 5 screen for fun to see how it looked like underneath, after getting an iPhone opening tool kit set as a gift. When I used the suction cup, I placed it right over the home button on my iPhone 5, and carefully pulled it upwards.

While I did so, the screen and digitizer(?) I think, snapped off the body, ripping one of the cables. One odd thing is that the LCD metal backplate, did not come lose. The screen and digitizer are removed but not the metal backplate (covering the internals). Also, the wire connected to the actual iPhone is ripped off.

Please help.

Also I cannot really afford a new screen to be honest...

The only way you're going to fix that is get a refurbished, second hand / used or new screen.

Chosen Solution

Pull the rest of the back frame off so you can access the internals.

If you cannot afford a new screen, say goodbye to this phone.
